Onyx at The Preserve 1101 Excellence Dr Bentonville, AR 72712 Onyx

A fully bespoke stainless-steel bar system developed for Onyx at The Preserve, spanning coffee, cocktails, food service, guest seating and the supporting back-of-house operation.

Located within Bud’s Preserve on Walmart’s Home Office campus, the venue operates across the full day, from coffee and breakfast through lunch, dinner, cocktails, wine and events. The bar was developed as a fully bespoke stainless-steel system to support that range of service within one continuous architectural language.

Three connected working environments form the core of the project: the Coffee Island, the Cocktail/Kitchen Line and the Back Line. Each has a distinct operational role, but together they read as one continuous stainless-steel system.

Designed Across the Day

A fully bespoke system

The scale and geometry of the bar were developed specifically for The Preserve. Soft radii, continuous worktops and custom perforations run through the project, responding to the curved architectural language of the surrounding space. The aim was to integrate a large amount of equipment and storage without breaking the bar into visually separate stations. Coffee, cocktails, pour-over, food preparation, refrigeration, wine service, guest seating, pickup and clearing are all supported within the same overall structure.

The stations

Three connected working environments, each designed around a different part of the operation and developed to work as one continuous bar system.

Coffee Island

The Coffee Island forms one of the main arrival points within the space and was developed around two integrated Modbar working positions.

The Modbar system sits directly within the custom island, allowing the coffee operation to remain open at counter level while the supporting equipment is housed below. Storage, ice, POS and the surrounding workflow were developed as part of the same structure.

Custom perforated drip trays and stainless-steel detailing follow the geometry of the island, keeping the coffee equipment visually connected to the wider bar.

Integration

Modbar

Coffee equipment built directly into the architecture of the counter.

Material and geometry

Stainless steel defines the bar throughout the project, with soft-edged geometry developed to echo the architectural openings elsewhere in the room.

Material and geometry

Vertical and horizontal radii, custom perforations and continuous welded surfaces were used across the different working areas so that the system reads as one piece despite the number of functions it supports.

Material and geometry

Against the surrounding white oak, plaster and limestone-rich surfaces, the steel introduces a more precise and technical material language while remaining part of the wider architecture.
