We Went to Porto for Torto (and Brought the Trays)

Two days in Porto with the Torto crew, celebrating their fourth anniversary with good chaos, familiar faces, and the quiet debut of our new tray prototypes.

When Torto decides to celebrate, they do it properly. Earlier this October, the Torto team planned two full days that brought friends, collaborators, and familiar faces together across the city. Every stop felt intentional - from shared meals and river views to unexpected detours - all built around the simple goal of giving everyone a good time.

The first day set the pace. As the sun dropped over the Douro, the celebration started at Musa das Virtudes, overlooking the river, a fitting backdrop to kick things off and bring together the best of Portugal’s bartending community. The evening continued at Talhasca Villa Parda, with a long table, good wine, and traditional dishes setting the mood. The rest was just good company and easy conversation. And if you ever find yourself there and can’t spot the bathroom right away, look for the old butcher’s fridge door - a small nod to the space’s past life that’s now part of its charm. The evening closed at Matriarca's Attic Bar, one of Porto’s newest bars.

Lunch gathering at Cockburn’s before the celebrations continued along the Douro.

Day two started at Cockburn’s, with lunch by Belos Aires Restaurant. Simple, delicious food that ended on dessert and port. From there, things rolled straight into a boat ride along the Douro, with music, laughter, and drinks mixed on the move.

We joined in for Round 1 that night with Constança Cordeiro from Uni and Frederico Falcone, from Fúria - friends, collaborators, and two of the most creative voices shaping Portugal’s bar scene. Together, they kicked off the evening behind the bar, bringing their signature style and energy to the start of the celebration.

Alongside them, we introduced something of our own: the first look at our tray prototypes, fresh from the workshop. Built in stainless steel, simple and sturdy, they were made to move easily through the rhythm of a busy bar. Porto became the perfect first test, with trays in motion, balancing glasses, catching light, and quietly finding their place in service.

As the night went on, the bar kept changing hands, with guest bartenders from across Portugal stepping in for a few rounds. It turned into a fun, familiar kind of night. Everyone catching up, sharing drinks, and celebrating what they do best together.
