Atman P. de Guilherme Gomes Fernandes 56, Porto, Portugal 4050-294 Instagram

Hidden behind an understated entrance in the heart of Porto, Atman is a philosophy-driven cocktail bar inspired by the Hindu concept of ātman, the essence of self. The experience unfolds through ritual, thoughtful hospitality and a cocktail programme organised around Mind, Body and Soul, creating a space designed to slow guests down and immerse them in the moment.

For Pau Gonzalez and Daniel Alba, hospitality has always been performative. Guests aren't simply served. They are invited to observe the craft, the movement and the rhythm of service from the moment they take their seat. That ambition became the starting point for the bar itself.

Together, we developed a fully customised Paloma × Tayēr hybrid station, designed around the team's workflow while keeping the bartender visually connected to every guest.

Rather than separating preparation from presentation, the station allows service to happen in full view. Every movement, from building cocktails to the final garnish, becomes part of the experience.

Designed for the Way They Work

The custom Paloma × Tayēr hybrid station was developed to support Atman's workflow while keeping the bartender connected to the guest throughout service.

The 4.6 metre station combines two wash modules, two work modules and an extended Tayēr ice well, creating a continuous workspace where preparation, building and service happen without interruption. Integrated undercounter cooling includes two refrigerated units and a refrigerated/freezer drawer system, providing dedicated storage for ingredients and glassware.

A key focus throughout the design was accessibility. Ice, bottles and tools are positioned within easy reach, reducing unnecessary movement and helping the team maintain a clean, organised workspace during service.

The larger work surface also gives the team flexibility to adapt the station to different moments throughout the evening, whether preparing cocktails, finishing drinks or presenting elements of the guest experience.

Every detail was considered to support day-to-day operation, balancing workflow, storage and ergonomics within a layout tailored to the way Atman works.
